CEORG presented the first international conference on…
Trends in EU, Czech, Hungarian and Polish public opinion on enlargement:
implications for EU institutions and industry
17th October 2000
European Parliament, Brussels
The Conference
CEORG’s conference will be an exclusive forum for industries, investors
and national and European Union authorities to discuss key aspects of the
schedule and shape of EU enlargement and its direct relevance for policy and
business strategy development.
During the conference, new data and analysis, mutual perceptions and expectations
concerning EU enlargement will be presented. New Czech, Polish and Hungarian
public opinion surveys on EU integration and NATO membership will be discussed,
alongside more specific opinion research results on economic and social matters.
The surveys concerned are now being carried out by IVVM, TÁRKI and CBOS.
The conference is a project of the first Central European non-governmental
research initiative in EU Brussels, CEORG. It intends to use its social
research potential in the three major EU applicant countries (Poland, Hungary
and the Czech Republic) to raise the true questions and issues concerning
EU’s and Applicant’s public opinion on EU enlargement and its
implications for future EU and industrial policies.
CEORG’s conference anticipates the European Commission’s new
communications policy on enlargement. The debates are certain to add important
elements to the political debate on EU enlargement.
